University of Maine Cooperative Extension was one of many organizations that surveyed farmers and agricultural service providers in 2020 to determine the stressors encountered during the pandemic and what practices could best help Maine farms recover.
The results of some of these surveys will be shared in a virtual “Farmer Survey Results Panel Discussion” from 1 pm to 3 pm on Wednesday, July 21. Surveys and participating organizations include:
“COVID-19 Survey of Maine Farmers” – UMaine Extension, Maine Farmers Resource Network;
“How the Impact of COVID-19 and Market Access Affected Farmers in Maine” – Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association, Maine Farmland Trust, Cooperative Development Institute, Coastal Enterprises Inc .;
“Maine Heritage Industries Infrastructure Needs” – Maine Department of Economics and Community Development; Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry; and
“Maine Agricultural Workers Compensation Survey 2021” – UMaine Extension, Maine Vegetable and Berry Producers Association, Maine Department of Labor.
